ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-15) match to visiting Liberty League-rival Clarkson, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Clarkson broke a 6-6 tie with a 3-0 run for a 9-6 lead and later turned a 13-11 edge into an 18-12 lead with a 5-2 run. The Tigers responded with a 7-1 run, including a pair of kills by junior middle Cat Vento, to knot the score, 19-19, but the Golden Knights eventually broke a 21-21 tie with four-straight points to put away the first.
- RIT trailed, 5-4, in the second before Clarkson rode a 6-0 run to a 10-4 lead. The Tigers responded with three-straight points and later pulled back within three, 12-9, but the visitors used an 8-1 run to build a 20-10 lead that proved insurmountable.
- RIT took an early third-set lead, 6-3, before Clarkson used a 6-0 run to take a 9-6 lead. The Golden Knights later led, 13-8, before the Tigers clawed back within three, 15-12. Clarkson rode an 8-1 run to a 23-13 lead to put the match out of reach.
MATCH NOTES
- Vento logged a team-high six kills on .455 hitting to go along with three assisted blocks.
- Senior setter Sydney Neff added 22 assists and three digs.
- Senior defensive specialist Hailey Blixt picked up a team-high seven digs.

RIT hosts a tri-match with Liberty League-foe St. Lawrence and Nazareth on Saturday (Oct. 7). The Tigers face the Saints at 2:00 p.m. and the Golden Flyers at 7:00 p.m.
