MEDFORD, Mass. – The RIT women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to Wesleyan, 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-15) and Susquehanna, 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 28-26), Saturday, on the second day of the Tufts Invitational.
WESLEYAN 3, RIT 0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-15)
- Wesleyan rode a 6-3 run to a 12-9 lead in the first set, before came back to tie the score, 14-14, with a 5-2 run. The Cardinals pulled ahead, 22-17, with an 8-3 run and scored three of the final four points to close the opening win.
- RIT opened a 5-2 second-set lead before Wesleyan used a 17-1 run to take a commanding 19-6 lead it would not relinquish.
- RIT scored back-to-back points early in the third set to pull within one, 7-6, but the Cardinals took command with a 9-3 run for a 16-9 edge. The Tigers got a close as six, 19-13, but Wesleyan finished with a 6-2 run to close the match.
- First-year outside hitter Macie Jolliffe totaled nine kills on .500 hitting and added four digs.
- First-year defensive specialist Jada Lee finished with a team-high six digs.
SUSQUEHANNA 3, RIT 0 (25-16, 25-22, 28-26)
- Trailing, 9-8, in the first, RIT rode a 4-1 run to a 12-10 lead. The Tigers led, 15-14, before Susquehanna put together an 8-0 run for a 22-15 lead and scored three of the final four points to take the opener.
- RIT battled back from an early 6-2 second-set deficit to lead, 12-10, and later led, 17-15, before Susquehanna moved into the lead, 20-17, with a 5-0 run. The Tigers retied the score, 20-20, with three straight points, but surrendered five of the final seven points in the setback.
- Trailing, 8-6, in the third, RIT used a 7-1 run to build a 13-9 lead. The Tigers later led, 19-14, but Susquehanna came back with a 10-2 run capped by six-consecutive points for a 24-21 lead. RIT fought off three match points to tie the score, 24-24, and staved off three more deciding points before succumbing by two to close the afternoon.
- Junior outside hitter Samantha Cox and first-year outside hitter Mia Gerber each logged seven kills.
- Senior libero Hailey Blixt totaled 12 digs.

RIT opens Liberty League play next Saturday (Sept. 30) at Bard (12:00 p.m.) before also taking on SUNY Poly (2:00 p.m.) in a non-league match.
