Women's Hockey ties RPI, 1-1

TROY, N.Y. – RIT junior forward Jordyn Bear scored in the Tigers 1-1 tie at RPI in Saturday's season-opener.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Junior goalie Sarah Coe made 10 saves in a scoreless first period, while first-year forward Emma Pickering fired four shots, including three on net.
  • RIT generated two power-play chances late in the second period, one from junior forward Kyla Bear at 16:43 and junior alternate captain Megan McCormick had a chance stopped at 16:44.
  • Coe made seven stops for the Tigers in a scoreless second period.
  • McCormick had a shot on net early in the third period turned aside by RPI goalkeeper, Amanda Rampado.
  • Bear scored at 6:53 of the third period, poking in a loose puck in front of the RPI net to give the Tigers the lead.
  • Junior forward Kylie Aquaro had her shot turned aside by Rampado when she broke in one-on-one at 9:38 of the third.
  • RPI's Andrew Trnkova tied the game on her goal at 17:43 of the third.
  • Aquaro had a shot with 50 second remaining in regulation turned aside by Rampado.
  • Aquaro and Pickering each had chances late in the first OT.
 
 
GAME NOTES:
  • RPI outshot RIT, 36-23
  • The Tigers went 0-for-4 on the power play
  • Coe made 35 stops in net to earn the tie.
