PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The RIT women's volleyball team lost at St. John Fisher, 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-21), Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- St. John Fisher opened an early 9-6 lead in the first set before RIT responded with a 4-0 run to take a 10-9 lead. Later tied, 15-15, the Cardinals put together a 7-3 surge for a 22-18 edge it would not relinquish.
- A back-and-forth second set saw RIT lead, 12-11, before St. John Fisher rode a 10-1 run to a decisive 21-13 lead. The Tigers clawed back within three, 23-20, but the Cardinals put the set away with back-to-back points to close the set.
- Trailing, 12-8, in the third, RIT tied the score, 18-18, with a 10-6 run, but the Cardinals scored seven of the final 10 points to close the match.
MATCH NOTES
- Senior middle Grace Phelan led RIT with six kills on .417 attacking to go along with two service aces and three blocks.
- Senior setter Sydney Neff added 21 assists and eight digs.
- Senior libero Hailey Blixt and first-year defensive specialist Jenell Hall logged 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

RIT hosts the RIT Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 16), taking on Trine at 11:00 a.m. and Grove City at 3:00 p.m. in Clark Gymnasium.
