Softball loses to RPI, 9-0 (6 inn.), 10-2 (6 inn.)

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT lost twice to visiting RPI, 9-0 (6 inn.) and 10-2 (6 inn.) in Liberty League softball action, Friday.
 
GAME 1 – RPI 9, RIT 0 (6 inn.)
  • The opener was scoreless until RPI brought two runs across in the third inning on a two-run double with two outs by Gabby Comeau.
  • The Engineers plated four more runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth, while limiting RIT to two hits.
  • Senor Alexis Smith and sophomore Maddy Cook each had a hit for the Tigers. 
GAME 2 – RPI 10, RIT 2 (6 inn.)
  • RPI took command with a six-run second inning.
  • RIT got two back in the fourth. Junior Elise Guth led off with a single through the left side before stealing second and advancing to third on a Cook fly-out. Smith followed with an RBI single to left and later advanced to second after first-year Autumn Broyles was hit by a pitch. Sophomore Erin Ozminkowski moved the runners with a ground-out to third, before sophomore Kristin Hino brought Smith home with a single to left.
  • The Engineers responded with three runs in the fifth and put the game away with a run in the sixth to complete the sweep.

RIT is scheduled to host Skidmore on Saturday (Apr. 29) for a Liberty League doubleheader slated for a 1:30 p.m. first pitch.
