ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT softball team split a Liberty League doubleheader with visiting Skidmore, taking the opener, 3-2 (8 inn.) before falling 5-1 in game-two.
GAME 1 - RIT 3, SKIDMORE 2 (8 inn.)
Junior
Elise Guth finished 1-for-2 with three walks as well as a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning. Sophomore
Kristin Hino went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
- Skidmore broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the fifth but the Tigers responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Guth drew a lead-off walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch before coming around on a Hino double to right field. Sophmore Maddy Cook followed with a single to right to plate Hino.
- The Thoroughbreds tied the score with a run in the top of the sixth.
- Sophomore Erin Ozminkowski led off the decisive bottom of the eight with a double to right. First-year Autumn Broyles advanced her to third with a single to left before Guth later dropped a single into left field to bring home Ozminkowski with the winning run.
- First-year Jessica Majot earned the complete-game victory, only allowing six hits while striking out six.
GAME 2 - SKIDMORE 5, RIT 1
Cook finished 2-for-4 with an RBI while sophomore
Bailey Kehl was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks.
- Skidmore plated three runs (two unearned) in the top of the first and built a 4-0 lead with another run in the second.
- RIT got one back in the fifth after Guth led off with an infield single and eventually scored from second on an RBI single up the middle by Cook.
- Skidmore tacked on one more run in the sixth en route to the victory.

RIT is scheduled to play a non-conference doubleheader at Nazareth on Tuesday (May 2) starting at 3:00 p.m.
