Baseball falls to Rochester, 9-3

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team dropped a road conference matchup to the University of Rochester on Friday, 9-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Yellowjackets took the lead in the bottom of the second inning on a three-run home run by Alec Ellison.
  • First-year second baseman Jarin Moses got the Tigers on the board in the top of the fourth with an RBI single to make it 3-1.
  • The next batter, senior catcher Kyle Poorman, added another run with a single to right to make it 3-2.
  • Junior first baseman John Bagley hit a solo home run, his second of the season, in the fifth to tie the game, 3-3.
  • The University of Rochester took the lead for good with a five-run seventh inning, including a two-run home run by Jackson Reed to make it 8-3.
  • The Yellowjackets added an insurance run in the eighth for the final 9-3 score.  
 
GAME NOTES:
  • The game was moved up from Sunday due to a forecast of inclement weather.
  • First-year designated hitter Roberto Reade went 2-for-3 with a walk.
  • First-year pitcher Luc Rising finished the game for the Tigers, not allowing an earned run in an inning of action.
  • Junior shortstop Randy Dodig reached his 100th career hit as a Tiger with a single to left to lead off the game.
  • The Tigers are currently second to the Yellowjackets in the Liberty League West.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
The Tigers close out the regular season on Saturday, hosting the Yellowjackets in a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to begin at noon.
