Baseball beats Brockport, 7-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team finished its non-conference schedule with a win on Thursday, beating SUNY Brockport, 7-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Tigers jumped to an early 1-0 lead with a one-out triple down the right field line by sophomore center fielder Adam Marsh, scoring junior shortstop Randy Dodig all the way from first.
  • In the bottom of the third, RIT took advantage of a two-out error by the Brockport second baseman by continuing the inning with a walk and then a two-run triple down the right field line by senior left fielder Chris Reilly to extend the lead to 3-0.
  • First year second baseman Jarin Moses singled home Reilly to increase the lead to 4-0.
  • Dodig knocked in RIT's fifth run with an RBI single with two outs in the fourth.
  • Brockport got on the board in the top of the sixth, scoring two unearned runs to narrow RIT's lead to 5-2.
  • Libby got those two runs back in the bottom of the sixth, bringing home two on a double just short of the right field wall to make the game, 7-2. That score would hold until the game's end.

  • Sophomore pitcher Jacob Statman went 1.2 innings of no-hit ball in relief to finish the game.
