ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT softball team swept visiting Keuka, 8-2 and 5-3, Tuesday afternoon.
GAME 1 – RIT 8, Keuka 2
Sophomore
Maddy Cook went 2-for-4 with two RBI while sophomore
Erin Ozminkowski knocked in three runs with a bases-clearing double during a decisive second inning.
- Keuka brought an unearned run across in the top of the first.
- The Tigers brought six runs across on five hits in the bottom of the second. First-year Autumn Broyles drew a lead-off walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by graduate student Haley Czerwinski. Sophomore Lillian Rienstra and first-year Emily Fitzgerald loaded the bases with a pair of infield singles before sophomore Bailey Kehl brought two runs home with a two-out infield single that deflected off the Keuka pitcher. Junior Elise Guth walked to reload the bases before Ozminkowski followed with a double to the left field wall to plate three more runs. Cook followed with an RBI single to center to complete the rally.
- Keuka got one back in the third but the Tigers scored twice in the fourth for a six-run lead. Cook knocked a bases loaded single to right before graduate student Haley Czerwinski brought a run home with a sacrifice fly.
- Sophomore Morgan Best earned the complete game victory, only allowing one earned run on eight hits while striking out four batters.
GAME 2 – RIT 5, KEUKA 3
Guth finished 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBI while Cook plated two with her first collegiate homerun in the Tigers' comeback victory.
- Keuka scored a run in the top of the first and two more in the third for a 3-0 lead.
- RIT tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the third. First-year Emily Fitzgerald opened the inning with an infield single and, after advancing on a sacrifice bunt by Kehl, came home on a Guth single to right. Cook later tied the score with a two-run shot over the left field fence.
- The Tigers scored the deciding runs in the fourth. Rienstra led off the inning with a bunt single and, after stealing second, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Kristin Hino. Rienstra later came home on a dropped fly ball to left off the bat of Kehl before Guth knocked a run-scoring double to left to bring home Kehl.
- First-year Jessica Majot earned the victory, only allowed an earned run on three hits while striking out four.

RIT is scheduled to host back-to-back Liberty League doubleheaders this weekend, facing Skidmore on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) and RPI on Sunday (1:00 p.m.).
