ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT softball team lost twice, 4-1 and 4-0, at Rochester in both teams' Liberty League openers, Saturday.
GAME 1 – ROCHESTER 4, RIT 1
- First-year Autumn Broyles went 2-for-3 while junior Elise Guth was 1-for-3 with a run scored.
- Following two scoreless innings, Rochester plated a run in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth.
- Guth led off the sixth with a single up the middle and, after advancing to third on back-to-back groundouts by sophomore Bailey Kehl and sophomore Lillian Rienstra, came home on a fielding error by the Yellowjacket shortstop on a ball hit by senior Alexis Smith.
- First-year Jessica Majot took the complete-game loss, allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out two.
GAME 2 – ROCHESTER 4, RIT 0
- Kehl logged the Tigers' lone hit as Rochester starter Emily Sharlach earned the complete-game shutout.
- Kehl led off the game with a single to left.
- The Yellowjackets plated a run in the bottom of the first, two in the fourth and another in the fifth. All four runs were scored with two outs.
- Tiger sophomore Morgan Best took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits through five innings. First-year Hannah Slater made her collegiate pitching debut, allowing one hit in a scoreless sixth inning.
