Women's Lacrosse loses 15-10 at Geneseo

GENESEO, N.Y. – RIT first year Morgan Nichter scored two goals and added an assist in the Tigers 15-10 loss at Geneseo, Wednesday.
 
Junior Julia Tenney scored two goals, while senior Kayleigh Ground had a goal and an assist. First-year ZoeHeffernan tallied a goal and two assists, while classmate Serafina Kiselgof tallied a goal and an assist. Graduate student goalie Michelle Messenger made 10 saves for the Tigers.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior Rachel Border and Kiselgof scored back-to-back goals early in the first quarter to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
  • Geneseo ran off three straight goals, taking a 3-2 lead on Reegan Vorgang's goal with 2:27 to play in the quarter.
  • The Knights scored the first two goals of the second quarter to extend their lead to 5-2.
  • Tenney scored from Kiselgof to make it 5-3, while Nichter tallied two straight goals to tie the score at 5-5.
  • First-year Zoe Heffernan scored with 6:12 remaining in the half to give the Tigers a 6-5 lead.
  • Geneseo scored the final three straight goals of the first half to lead 8-6 at the half.
  • The Knights scored the first four goals of the third quarter to extend its lead to 12-6.
  • Senior Baylee West broke the Geneseo run with her goal off an assist from junior Carrissa Hlywa with 6:56 to play, and first-year Kate Trojan score with 5:11 to play to cut the lead to 12-8.
  • Geneseo scored twice in the closing minutes of the third to lead 14-8.
  • Reina scored midway through the fourth quarter to give the Knights a 15-8 lead.
  • Tenney scored with 7:04 to play to make it 15-9, and Ground scored with 3:31 remaining to make it a 15-10 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Geneseo outshot RIT, 31-21.
  • RIT went 19-of-20 on clearing attempts and had 13 ground balls.
