ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT softball team fell in both ends of a doubleheader opposite visiting Alfred, Tuesday, 12-3 (6 inn.) and 11-2 (6 inn.).
GAME 1 – ALFRED 12, RIT 3 (6 inn.)
- RIT senior Alexis Smith finished 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI while sophomore Erin Ozminkowski finished 2-for-3 with an RBI in the opener.
- Alfred scored twice in the top of the first before the Tigers answered with a run in the bottom of the inning. Sophomore Bailey Kehl drew a one-out walk and, following a double by Smith, came home on an infield hit by Ozminkowski.
- The Saxons took a 3-1 lead in the second, but the Tigers tied the game with a two-out rally in the bottom of the inning. Graduate student Haley Czerwinski reached on an infield single and, following a walk by junior Elise Guth, came home on a single to right by Kehl. Smith then plated Guth with a single to right.
- Alfred retook the lead with a run in the third and broke the game open with a sixth-run fourth, while holding RIT scoreless the rest of the way. The Saxons plated two in the sixth to complete the game.
GAME 2 – ALFRED 11, RIT 2 (6 inn.)
- Smith finished 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI double while sophomore Maddy Cook collected two hits.
- Alfred's Mady Wells led off the game with a homerun over the right-centerfield wall.
- RIT answered in the bottom half of the inning after Smith reached on an error by the Alfred first baseman and came home on a double to left center by Ozminkowski.
- The Tigers took a 2-1 lead in the third after sophomore Lillian Rienstra scored from second on Smith's RBI double.
- Alfred batted around during a decisive seven-run fourth to build an 8-2 lead and completed the sweep with three runs in the sixth.

RIT opens Liberty League play with back-to-back road doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday (Apr. 15-16) at Rochester (3:00 p.m.) and Union (1:00 p.m.), respectively.
