ROCHESTER, N.Y. – First year 2B
Jarin Moses hit his team-leading fourth home run of the season as the RIT baseball team lost at home to St. John Fisher on Wednesday, 10-8.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Cardinals took an early 2-0 lead on a two-run home run in the first by James Murphy.
- St. John Fisher extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the second with a two-out base hit by Nick Lemire that scored one.
- The Tigers loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the second before junior SS Randy Dodig knocked in two with a single through the right side to make it 3-2.
- A wild pitch a batter later brought home the tying run, 3-3.
- Dodig scored the go-ahead run on a groundout by senior LF Chris Reilly to give the Tigers a 4-3 lead.
- With two outs and two men on, Moses hit his home run to left, extending the RIT lead to 7-3.
- The Tigers moved the lead to 8-3 on a sacrifice fly by first year 3B Charlie Slaymaker in the third.
- St. John Fisher began to chip away at the RIT lead, scoring a run a piece in the fourth and fifth to narrow the margin to 8-5.
- A sacrifice flyout to foul territory in right and a double by Murphy brought in two runs for the Cardinals in the sixth to make it an 8-7 ballgame.
- A single followed by two straight doubles in the ninth gave St. John Fisher first the tie and then the 9-8 lead.
- A two-out single by Noah Pohrte brought home the final Cardinals run to make it the final score of 10-8.
GAME NOTES:
- Moses has hit a home run in four of the Tigers' last six games. His home run Wednesday was the second time this season he has hit a home run two games in a row.
- Dodig had two hits and two RBIs.
- First year C Roberto Reade threw out the first runner of his college career when he caught Jake Meeker trying to steal second to end the top of the seventh inning.
