Softball falls twice in Arizona, Wednesday

TUCSON, Ariz. – The RIT softball team continued play at the Tucson Invitational Games, Wednesday.
 
Coe 11, RIT 2 (6 inn.)
  • Junior Elise Guth finished 2-for-4 with a pair of triples and two runs scored while graduate student Haley Czerwinski and sophomore Bailey Kehl each notched an RBI.
  • Guth led off the game with a triple before coming around on a Kehl RBI groundout.
  • Coe answered with two runs in the bottom of the first and built a 5-1 lead after four innings.
  • Guth led off the fifth with a triple and came home on a Czerwinski sacrifice fly.
  • Coe scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.   
Sul Ross State 9, RIT 4
  • RIT scored four runs in the first inning, including a bases-loaded RBI groundout by sophomore Erin Ozminkowski, and later a bases-loaded single by first-year Marissa Giuntoli followed by a RBI walk by first-year Emily Fitzgerald.  
  • The Lobos brought five runs across in the top of the second and scored four more times over the next three innings, while holding the Tigers to two hits over the last six innings.
