Baseball falls to Salve Regina, 7-4

 
ORLANDO, FL. – First year 2B Jarin Moses went 2-4 with a home run in the RIT baseball team's 7-4 loss to Salve Regina on Wednesday in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Tigers took an early lead on a first inning sacrifice fly by senior LF Chris Reilly to score junior SS Randy Dodig to make the score 1-0.
  • Salve Regina took the lead by scoring two runs in the bottom of the second to pull ahead, 2-1.
  • The Seahawks extended their lead in the third on a passed ball and an RBI single in the fourth by Shane Williams to move ahead 4-1.
  • Moses hit his second home run of the season to lead off the fifth and narrow the score to 4-2.
  • Salve Regina extended their lead in the sixth to 6-2.
  • With two outs in the seventh, first year 3B Charlie Slaymaker doubled home senior DH Zach Mecca to narrow Salve Regina's lead to 6-3.
  • Dodig singled home Slaymaker in the next at-bat to make the score 6-4.
  • Salve Regina scored a final run in the eighth for the final 7-4 score.
GAME NOTES:
  • First year starter Trent Rapp threw three innings, giving up a hit and two earned runs while striking out four.
  • Zach Mecca had his first stolen base of the season.
  • Senior P Peter Bossinas pitched 1.2 IP of scoreless relief, striking out two.
