ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore forward
Jordyn Bear tied the game in the third period to lead the Tigers to a 1-1 tie against Mercyhurst, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior forward Emma Roland fired a shot on net from the slot early in the first off a deflection in the Mercyhurst zone.
- Sophomore goalie Sarah Coe made six saves in a scoreless first period, including a paddle-save off a shot from Vanessa Upson at 16:10 of the opening period.
- Junior forward Lindsay Maloney broke in early in the second period and fired a shot on target.
- Thea Johannon scored 1:16 into the second to give Mercyhurst a 1-0 lead. Jordan Mortlock fired a shot that Coe saved. The rebound came to Johansson who poked a shot in from close range.
- Coe made 16 saves in the second for the Tigers who were outshot 17-4 in the period.
- Sophomore forward Megan McCormick had a shot on net early in the third period saved by Mercyhurst goalie Ena Nystrom.
- Bear scored a power play goal at 12:27 of the third to tie the score at 1-1. First year forward Lexi Sung fired a shot and the rebound came to Bear in the slot and she fired a shot in for her third of the season.
- Coe made a nice save on a shot from Sydney Pedersen early in overtime.
- Roland had a shot blocked at 2:43 of overtime.
- Coe made three saves in succession inside the last minute of overtime to preserve the tie.
GAME NOTES
- Mercyhurst outshot the Tigers 39-24.
- RIT scored on its only power play.
- Coe finished with 38 saves.

RIT returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 4) against Mercyhurst at 2:00 p.m. The Tigers will wear commemorative jersey to honor local first responders at Rochester Regional Health, Rochester Fire Department and Rochester Police Department.
