Women’s Basketball falls at RPI, 43-40

TROY, NY – Junior guard Emma Waite had eight points and five assists in the Tigers' 43-40 loss at RPI, Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RPI opened scoring with a three-pointer by Nicole DaPra with 9:36 left in the first quarter.
  • RIT got on the board with a layup by first-year Ansley Orrell with 8:14 left in the first quarter, narrowing the score to 3-2.
  • RPI outscored pulled ahead the rest of the quarter to end the fourth up 16-8.
  • The Engineers maintained their lead over RIT through halftime, 24-15.
  • The Tigers outscored RPI, 13-7, in the third quarter to narrow the score to 31-28. Sophomore guard Lila McGuiggin led the way with eight points in the quarter.  
  • RIT continued to narrow the score, and the Tigers narrowed the deficit to one with an Emma Waite free throw with 1:20 left in the game, 41-40.
  • An RIT attack in the final seconds fell short, and RPI put it away with two free throws to end the game 43-40.
GAME NOTES
  • The Tigers shot 16-of-59 (27.1%) from the floor, including 1-of-11 (9.1%) from beyond the arc.
  • RIT was outrebounded by RPI, 53-43.
  • Senior forward Kaleesha Joseph had eight points and nine rebounds.
