Women’s Basketball falls to Vassar, 86-73

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior forward Kaleesha Joseph and junior guard Emma Waite each had 14 points in the Tigers' 86-73 home loss to Vassar on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Tigers took the lead, 3-0, just nine seconds into the game on a three-pointer by Waite.
  • The Brewers responded with a two-point basket by Eliza Srinivasan with 9:35 left in the quarter to make it 3-2.
  • RIT then went on a 7-0 run that culminated in a three-pointer by first-year guard Abigail Smith with 8:06 left in the quarter to extend the lead to 10-2.
  • Vassar outscored RIT, 8-5, the rest o8f the first quarter, but the Tigers still maintained a 15-10 lead after ten minutes of play.
  • A three-pointer by Vassar's Tova Gelb tied the game, 18-18, with 8:12 left in the second quarter.
  • The Brewers took the lead for the first time in the game, 20-19, with a layup by Srinivasan with 7:29 left in the quarter.
  • First-year guard Ansley Orrell put the Tigers back in the lead with a layup with 7:09 left in the quarter, 21-20.
  • The two teams played close the rest of the quarter, but the Brewers would ultimately go to halftime with a 33-31 lead thanks to a layup by Srinivasan with 33 seconds left.
  • The Tigers retook the lead, 34-33, when Joseph hit a layup and then made a free throw with 9:34 left in the third quarter.
  • Vassar then went on a 15-3 run to pull ahead, 48-37, with 5:54 left in the quarter.
  • The Brewers held the lead for the rest of the quarter and entered the fourth up 57-47.
  • The Tigers were unable to make up the deficit as Vassar took the win, 86-73.
GAME NOTES
  • The Tigers shot 25-of-63 (39.7%) from the floor, including 11-of-26 (42.3%) from beyond the arc.
  • RIT was outrebounded, 48-33.
  • Joseph had 11 rebounds in the loss, one short of her season-high.
