Men's Basketball beats Vassar, 66-52

ROCHESTER, NY – RIT junior forward Kenny Wilburn tied his career-high with 20 points in the Tigers 66-52 win over Vassar, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sophomore guard Brock Bowen scored off an assist from Wilburn to give the Tigers an early 12-6 lead.
  • Senior guard Keegan Ocorr made it an eight-point lead on his bucket with 14:46 remaining.
  • Vassar's Luke Adams hit a three-pointer that cut the RIT lead to 14-13.
  • Wilburn and junior guard Mark Osime scored consecutive baskets to increase the RIT lead to 19-13.
  • Case Parsons scored with eight minutes to play to give the Brewers a 22-21 lead.
  • Sophomore guard Chase Dickens scored with 54-seconds remaining in the half to give the Tigers a 31-26 halftime lead.
  • Wilburn scored early in the second half to give RIT a five-point lead, while his bucket with 17:20 to play gave the Tigers a nine-point lead.
  • Ocorr scored off an assist from Dickens to give the Tigers a 50-34 lead, and Nathan Denham scored with 7:58 remaining to cut the RIT lead to 55-47.
  • Ocorr scored off a steal with 4:52 to play to give RIT an 11-point lead and he drained a three-pointer on RIT's next possession to make 62-48, Tigers.
  • Osime converted a pair of free throws in the closing seconds, while JP Miranda scored for Vassar to make it a 66-52 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 28-of-51 from the floor including five three-pointers.
  • The Tigers scored 32 points in the paint.
  • Rebounds were tied, 32-32.
  • Ocorr and Osime each scored 11 points, while Ryan tallied eight points and 13 rebounds.
  • RIT head coach Bob McVean wins his 599th career game.
 
RIT returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 11) against Union at 4:00 P.M. The Tigers will honor seniors Chris Mattair, Keegan Ocorr, Kevin Ryan and Michael Young before tip-off.
