Women's Hockey returns home to face Mercyhurst

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT Women's Hockey team will host Mercyhurst for a pair of College Hockey America games at the Gene Polisseni Center, Friday and Saturday (Feb. 3-4).

RIT will honor local first-responders on Saturday (Feb. 4). The Tigers will wear special jerseys that feature Rochester Regional Health, Rochester Fire Department and Rochester Police Department logos on them. Game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to charities affiliated with all three organizations. The auction is live and will end Monday, Feb 6th at midnight.

LAST TIME OUT
Graduate student forward Amy Dobson scored and sophomore goalie Sarah Coe made 27 saves in the Tigers 4-1 loss at Syracuse, Wednesday. Dobson tied the game at 1-1 on her goal 3:10 into the third period on assists from sophomore forward Athena Vasdani and junior forward Lindsay Maloney.
 
Maloney and junior forward Emma Roland each tied their career-high with two goals in the Tigers 5-3 win over Syracuse, Tuesday. Dobson tallied a goal and an assist, while Vasdani and sophomore defensewoman Kyla Bear each had two assists. Coe made 32 saves to earn the win in net.
 
 
ABOUT RIT
RIT enters the weekend fifth in the CHA averaging 1.65 goals per game and fourth allowing 3.27 goals per contest. The Tigers are 21st in Division I and tied for first in the league averaging 6:57 penalty minutes per game. RIT is second in the CHA averaging 14.27 blocked shots, fourth converting 13.5 percent (10-of-74) power play chances and stopping its opponents power play 80.0 (68-of-85) percent of the time.
 
Dobson leads the Tigers with 12 points on six goals and six assists. Maloney and Vasdani are tied for second on the team with 11 points each, while sophomore forward Kylie Aquaro is fourth with 10 points. Maloney is third in the league with 243 face-off wins, while Dobson is tied for eighth in the league averaging 3.00 shots per game.
 
Sophomore defensewoman Kyla Bear is fourth in the league with 46 blocked shots, while McCormick is sixth with 28. Dobson and junior defensewoman Bailey Kehl are tied for eighth with 40 blocks apiece. Maloney is third in the league with 243 face-off wins, while first-year forward Lexi Sung is 10th in the CHA winning .510 of her face offs.

ABOUT MERCYHURST
Mercyhurst enters the weekend tied for second in the CHA standings with 13 points and is 3-2-1 in its last six games. The Lakers recorded a 1-0-1 record against Syracuse last weekend. Graduate student forward Liliane Perreault scored the game-tying goal at 8:52 of the third off an assist from sophomore forward Kylee Mahoney in Sunday's 1-1 tie. Senior goalie Ena Nystrom made 25 saves to earn the win.
 
Junior forward Sara Boucher tallied four goals and added an assist to lead the Lakers to a 6-1 win, Saturday. First-year forward Thea Johansson tallied a goal and an assist and sophomore defensewoman Sydney Pedersen had two assists. Enestrom made 28 saves.
 
Mercyhurst enters the weekend second in the CHA averaging 3.32 goals per game, while allowing 2.57 goals per contest. The Lakers are second in the league converting 18-of-92 (19.6%) on the power play and third killing 89-of-106 (84.0%) penalties. Mercyhurst is third in the league averaging 7:55 penalty minutes per game and winning 49.6 % of its face-offs.
 
Johansson leads Mercyhurst and is third in the league with 31 points. She is tied for second in the league with 18 assists and fourth, averaging 1.11 points per game. Boucher is second on the team and tied for fourth in the league with 29 points. She is tied for fourth in the league with 14 goals and tied for sixth with 15 assists. Sophomore forward Vanessa Upson is third on the team with 25 points and is tied with Boucher for fourth in the league with 14 goals.
 
Nystrom enters the week second in the CHA with a 2.87 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.
 
RIT vs. MERYHURST
Mercyhurst is 39-6-0 all-time against RIT. The Lakers swept a two-game series on Dec. 2-3, winning 5-1 and 7-1. RIT's last win was a 1-0 victory on Jan. 6, 2021 in Erie, Pa.

The Tigers are 10th in Division I and second in the CHA with 832 team saves, averaging 32.00 saves per contest. Coe enters the weekend third in the league with a .909 save percentage and fourth with a 3.10 goals against average.
