Women's Basketball defeats Union 68-64

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – RIT junior guard Hannah Durand scores 20 points, leading the women's basketball team to a 68-64 victory over Union, Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After three scoreless minutes, junior guard Lila McGuiggin opened up the scoring with a left-handed layup
  • Sophomore guard Erin DiPaola makes a right-handed hook shot from inside the paint, giving RIT a 16-4 lead with 3:35 left in the first
  • Durand closes the first quarter with a driving layup, providing the Tigers with a 19 point lead after 10 minutes of play
  • First-year guard Ella Wilson sinks a three-pointer, giving RIT a 39-23 lead with 3:22 left in the second quarter
  • The Tigers take a 46-31 lead at halftime
  • Union outscores RIT 13-9 in the third, cutting the Tigers' lead to 11 after three quarters of play
  • The Tigers open up the fourth quarter with a 6-1 scoring run, putting them ahead 61-45 with 8:57 left in the game
  • Union's Emma Riley sinks a three-pointer at the 1:48 mark, followed by two free throws from Grace Enselek on the next possession, cutting RIT's lead to four with less than a minute to play
  • Union turns the ball over with two seconds left
