Women's Hockey loses 3-1 to Mercyhurst

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT first-year forward Linda Rulle scored her first collegiate goal in the Tigers 3-1 loss to Mercyhurst, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Rulle scored three minutes into the first period to give RIT the lead. Senior Nicole Ness fired a shot on target that Rulle poked in
  • Mercyhurst's Sofia Nuutinen scored at 10:26 of the opening frame to tie the score at 1-1
  • Sophomore goalie Sophia Bellina made 14 saves in a scoreless second period.
  • Mercyhurst killed off a five-minute major midway through the period
  • Sara Boucher scored a power play goal at 17:31 of the third period and Sydney Pedersen added an empty-net goal to make it a 3-1 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Mercyhurst outshot RIT, 47-28
  • Bellina made a career-high 44 saves
  • RIT went 1-for-3 with the extra skater and blocked 21 shots
