Women's Hockey loses 5-1 to No. 4 Minnesota

ROCHESTER, N.Y.  – RIT senior captain Lindsay Maloney scored in the Tigers' 5-1 loss to No. 4 Minnesota, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Minnesota's Maggie Nicholson scored on a shot from the slot 1:23 into the contest to give the Golden Gophers the lead.
  • Senior forward Nicole Ness had a shot on target from the slot at 4:51 of the first.
  • Junior Megan McCormick had two chances from close-range late in the frame, while Jordyn Bear had a chance off a Minnesota turnover deep in its zone.
  • Junior goalie Sarah Coe made a nice save on a one-timer from Josefin Bouveng at 17:08 of the first period.
  • Sophomore forward Lexi Sung had a shot from the face-off dot saved off a good clearance by the Tigers early in the second.
  • Abbey Murphy gave Minnesota a 2-0 lead on her power play goal at 5:13 of the second period.
  • First-year defensewoman Emma Pickering had a shot saved from the slot at 5:40.
  • Maloney tallied a power-play goal at 9:02 of the second, firing a one-timer off assists from junior Kylie Aquaro and Jessie Burks.
  • Ella Huber scored a short-handed goal at 4:30 of the third period to give the Golden Gophers a 4-1 lead, while Ava Lindsay tallied a power-play goal at 9:30 to make it 5-1.
