Women's Hockey beats Union, 4-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT first-year Emma Pickering tallied her first collegiate goal to go along with an assist in the Tigers 4-1 win over Union, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Union's Maren Friday scored at 13:39 of the opening period to give the Garnet Chargers the lead.
  • First-year forward Linda Rulle had two shots in a 5-on-3 power play midway through the frame.
  • Pickering tied the score on her goal 36 seconds into the second period into the top corner for her first collegiate goal.
  • Junior forward Kylie Aquaro gave RIT a 2-1 lead on her goal at 1:48 of the second off an assist from sophomore forward Lexi Sung.
  • Junior forward Megan McCormick scored at 14:48 of the period to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead, scoring on an assist from junior defensewoman Jessie Burks.
  • First-year forward Addie Alvarez scored an empty-net goal at 15:14 of the third period to make it a 4-1 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT outshot Union, 26-22
  • Sophomore goalie Sophia Bellina made 21 saves to earn the win in net
  • The Tigers went 1-for-7 with the extra skater
  • Friday's win was the first for the Tigers against Union since 2016-17
