Women's Hockey completes sweep with 2-1 win over Union

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore forward Jaidan Fahrny scored the game-winner in the Tigers' 2-1 win over Union, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior forward Megan McCormick fired two shots on net, while junior goalie Sarah Coe made five saves in a scoreless first period.
  • Union's Iliana Smith scored at 9:50 of the second to give the Garnet Chargers the lead.
  • Senior forward Emma Roland tied the game at 1-1 on her goal 11:37 into the frame off assists from senior forward Lindsay Maloney and junior forward Athena Vasdani.
  • Fahrny scored the go-ahead goal 9:38 of the third period, jamming in a loose puck in front of the Union goal, on assists from Maloney and first-year forward Linda Rulle.
  • Coe made eight of her 21 saves in the third period.
 
GAME NOTES
  • It is the first home sweep for the Tigers since winning a pair against St. Michael's last season
  • RIT outshot Union, 28-22
  • The Tigers went 1-for-4 with the extra skate
  • RIT honored the 2011-12 national championship today as they were inducted into the RIT Athletics Hall of Fame
