Men's Hockey shuts out Notre Dame, 3-0, in front of sellout Brick City Homecoming crowd

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior goalkeeper Tommy Scarfone totaled 36 saves in a 3-0 shutout of Notre Dame in the Brick City Homecoming & Family game at Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester, Saturday.

Junior forwards Carter Wilkie and Cody Laskosky each added a goal and an assist in a game played in front of a sellout crowd of 10,566.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead. Following an Irish tripping penalty in the second minute, senior defenseman Gianfranco Cassaro took a feed in the right face-off circle from senior defenseman Aiden Hansen-Bukata and scored on a blast over Irish goaltender Ryan Bischel's glove at 2:57.
  • Laskosky later dug a puck off the left boards in the Notre Dame zone back to junior forward Tanner Andrew at the point. Andrew flipped a puck toward the goal where Wilkie deked a shot under Bischel's arm, near post, with 7:34 on the clock.
  • Laskosky made it a 3-0 Tiger lead with a goal of his own with 4:19 left in the second period, jumping on a Notre Dame turnover along the left boards and scoring on a wrist shot over Bischel's shoulder, near post.
