Men's Basketball loses 88-79 at No. 5 Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior forward Kevin Ryan scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Tigers 88-79 loss at No. 5 Rochester, Tuesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ryan scored off an assist from sophomore guard Brock Bowen early in the first half to give the Tigers a 6-2 lead.
  • Sophomore center Andrew Fox scored off an assist from junior guard Matt Caggiano with 14:15 to play to give RIT a six-point lead.
  • Sophomore guard Chase Dickens converted a pair of free throws with 12:00 remaining to give the Tigers an 18-13 lead.
  • Rochester's Logan Jagodzinski gave the Yellowjackets a 19-18 lead on his layup with 12:15 to go, while T.C. Price capped off an 11-1 Rochester run with his free throw to give the Yellowjackets a 24-18 lead.
  • Price drained a three-pointer to give the Yellowjackets a nine-point lead, but Ryan cut the Rochester lead to four on his layup.
  • Dickens made it 31-27 on his jump shot with 4:50 remaining, while Bowen made 1-of-2 free throws to cut the lead to 46-40.
  • Matt Wiele scored at the buzzer to give Rochester a 48-40 lead at halftime.
  • Ross Gang hit a three-pointer early in the second half to increase the Rochester lead to 53-40, while Matt Niemczura made one-of-two free throws to increase the Yellowjackets lead to 14 points.
  • Dickens converted two free throws with 12:07 to play to cut the Rochester lead to 66-56, and junior guard Ronnie Toole hit a three-pointer with 7:39 remaining to make it a seven-point game.
  • Caggiano scored on a driving layup with 1:26 remaining to make it a four-point game, but Rochester scored the final five points to make it an 88-79 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 26-of-63 (41.3%) from the floor, including 4-of-18 from beyond the arc.
  • Rochester outrebounded RIT, 38-36.
  • Ryan shot 6-of-10 from the floor, 10-of-11 from the foul line and led the Tigers with nine rebounds.
  • Dickens chipped in 10 points.
