Women’s Basketball falls to Vassar, 71-50

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY Junior guard Emma Waite scored a career-high 26 points in RIT's 61-50 loss to Vassar College on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After falling behind 2-0 early, RIT took the lead with 8:26 left in the first quarter on a Waite three-pointer, 3-2.
  • Vassar took the lead on free-throws, 4-3, but the Tigers again took the lead on a three-pointer by first-year guard Erin DiPaola to make it 6-3 with 5:51 left in the first.
  • The Brewers outscored the Tigers 12-5 in the final five minutes of the first quarter to pull ahead to an 18-13 lead.
  • RIT rallied in the second, outscoring Vassar, 17-14, and ultimately tying the score at 30-30 before a late layup by Vassar's Julia Harvey gave the Brewers the 32-30 lead heading into halftime.
  • A three-pointer by DiPaola with 8:53 left in the third quarter gave the Tigers a 33-32 lead.
  • The Brewers outscored the Tigers 23-8 the rest of the quarter to pull ahead to a 55-41 lead.
  • Vassar held the lead the rest of the way for a 71-50 victory.
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 17-of-60 (28.3%) from the floor, including 9-for-33 beyond the arc.
  • Vassar out-rebounded RIT, 47-35.
  • DiPaola scored 11 points.
