Women's Hockey on the road at No. 12 Penn State

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT women's hockey team hits the road for a pair of College Hockey America games at No. 12 Penn State, Friday and Saturday, January 13-14.

LAST TIME OUT
Sophomore goalie Sarah Coe made 31 saves in the Tigers 3-0 loss at St. Thomas, Saturday. The Tigers fired 24 shots, including four from graduate student forward Amy Dobson. Junior defensewoman Mia Tsilemos had four blocked shots.
 
Junior forward Emma Roland scored in RIT's 3-1 loss, Friday. Roland scored a power play goal off assists from sophomore forwards Jordyn Bear and Kylie Aquaro at 11:12 of the second period to cut the Tommies lead to 2-1. Bear recorded her first collegiate point while Coe made 29 stops.
 
ABOUT RIT
RIT enters the weekend fifth in the CHA averaging 1.48 goals per game and are fourth defensively, allowing 3.38 goals per contest. The Tigers are 12th nationally and third in the league averaging 7:34 penalty minutes per game. RIT is second averaging 13.14 blocked shots, fourth converting 12.7 percent (8-of-63) power play chances and stopping its opponents power play 78.7 percent of the time.
 
Aquaro leads the team with nine points on a goal and a team-best eight assists. Dobson, junior forward Lindsay Maloney and sophomore forward Athena Vasdani are tied for second on the team with seven points apiece. Maloney is tied for 22nd nationally and fourth in the CHA with 199 face-off wins, while Dobson is eighth in the league averaging 3.10 shots per game.
 
Sophomore defensewoman Kyla Bear is fourth in the league with 37 blocked shots, while sophomore forward Megan McCormick ais ninth in the CHA with 30 blocked shots and junior defensewoman Bailey Kehl is tenth with 29 blocks. First-year forward Lexi Sung is ninth in the league winning 51.2 percent of her face-offs.
 
The Tigers enter the weekend 12th in Division I and second in the CHA with 658 team saves. Coe is fourth in the league with a 3.28 goals against average, and is fourth with a .900 save percentage.

ABOUT PENN STATE
Penn State swept a pair of games against Long Island University, winning 4-3 (Dec. 30) and 4-1 the following day. First-year forward Tessa Janecke scored the game-winner at 17:53 of the third in Friday's win. Junior forward Kiara Zanon, Junior forward Alyssa Machado and junior forward Kiara Zanon each scored, while junior goalie Josie Bothun made 17 saves for the Nittany Lions.
 
Janecke tallied a goal and two assists in Saturday's win. Senior forward Julie Gough,  first-year defensewoman Kendall Butze and Zanon each scored, while Bothun made 19 saves to earnt the win.
 
Penn State enters the weekend seventh in Division I and first in the CHA with 78 goals. The Nittany Lions are second in the league and 11th in Division I averaging 3.25 goals per game, and lead the CHA and 15th in the country allowing 2.17 goals per contest. Penn State leads the conference and is 15th nationally converting 19.5 percent (15-of-77) on the power play, and is tied for seventh in the country and tops in the CHA killing penalties, killing off 75-of-84 (89.3%) this season.
 
Zanon leads Penn State, the CHA and is tied for 11th in Division I with 30 points. She is tied for 22nd in the country and first in the CHA with Janecke with 14 goals and leads the league with 16 assists. Janecke is second on the team and the league with 27 points. She is tied for sixth in the league with 12 assists and tied with Zanon for first in the league with four power play goals. Junior forward Olivia Wallin is third on the team with 19 points (7g, 12a).
 
Bothun leads the league and is 18th in the nation with a 2.04 goals against average and leads the league with a .918 save percentage.
 
RIT vs. PENN STATE
Penn State is 28-18-5 all-time versus RIT. The Tigers went 0-2-2 against the Nittany Lions last season, including a 2-2 tie in University Park. Zanon scored for Penn State, while Aquaro tallied for the Tigers.
