Women's Soccer loses at No. 5 William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. – RIT first-year defender Roberta Moger scored her first collegiate goal in the Tigers 4-1 loss at No. 5 William Smith, Wednesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ava Ruppersberger gave the Herons a 1-0 lead on her goal in the fourth minute. Shayna Straney intercepted a square pass at midfield and fed Ruppersberger who scored into the bottom corner.
  • Moira van der Putt scored in the 34th minute to give William Smith a 2-0 lead.
  • Moger scored in the 58th minute off an assist from first-year forward Elena Onodera. Onodera found Moger with a pass at the top of the penalty box. She fired a shot into the top-corner to cut the deficit to a goal.
  • Marjorie Plants scored off an assist from van der Putt in the 78th minute to give the Herons a 3-1 lead, while Ruppersberger notched her second goal of the game in the 88th minute to make it 4-1.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT's goal was the first goal scored against William Smith since the regular season finale in 2014.
  • RIT outshot William Smith 15-9, including seven shots on target.
  • Senior goalkeeper Darcie Jones made three saves in net, suffering her first loss of the season.
