ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's volleyball team split two matches to open the season at the University of Rochester Invitational, Friday. The Tigers earned a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-15) victory over Medaille after falling to Buffalo State, 3-2 (25-16, 21-25, 25-17, 16-25, 15-5) in the opener.
Buffalo State 3, RIT 2 (25-16, 21-25, 25-17, 16-25, 15-5)
- RIT sophomore middle blocker Liv Benard totaled 13 kills and a career high 15 digs for her first career double-double.
- Junior setter Sydney Neff was credited with 42 assists and added eight digs.
- Junior right side Marie Fraser compiled career-highs with nine kills and four solo blocks.
- Junior defensive specialist Jessica Klein also added 15 digs.
RIT 3, Medaille 0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-15)
- Benard totaled a career-high 17 kills and a .538 attack percentage to lead the Tiger attack.
- Neff added 31 assists, three blocks (two solo) and three service aces along with six digs. She also guided the Tigers to a .380 attack percentage for the match.
- Klein and sophomore defensive specialist Corie Beale each logged seven digs.
