Christine Cataldo-Smith and
Maddy Bullis each scored to help the RIT women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Otterbein, Saturday. RIT, 4-0, is off to its best start since 2010.
How it Happened
- Cataldo-Smith scored her fist goal of the season in the 61st minute off an assist from sophomore Sam Halligan. Halligan fired a free kick on net that Otterbein keeper, Ella Schwertfager saved. The rebound came to Cataldo-Smith who redirected a shot into the net.
- Bullis gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead on her second goal of the season in the 76th minute. Halligan fired in a free kick into the Cardinals penalty box that Bullis tapped into the net.
- Otterbein's best chance came in the 21st minute. Ava Burns was one-on-one with RIT keeper Darcie Jones. Burns dribbled around Jones but fired her shot just wide of the RIT post.
Game Notes
- With her goal today, Cataldo-Smith passed Emily Traversi for third all-time in scoring with 60 career points.
- RIT outshot Otterbein 11-3, including seven shots on target.
- The Tigers had eight corner kicks, while Otterbein finished with three.
- Jones made two saves in net to improve to 4-0 on the season.
- Schwertfager took the loss for Otterbein, making five saves.
