ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Executive Director of Athletics
Jacqueline Nicholson announced RIT has been selected to receive one of eight NCAA Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grants for 2022.
Awarded annually since 2014, the grant is designed to provide financial assistance to Division III conferences and member institutions committed to enhancing ethnic minority and gender representation in mid-to senior-level intercollegiate athletics administrative positions. The grant provides funding to support the salary and benefits of the hired employee for the first three years of a five-year position. The NCAA also provides funding at the beginning of the first three years to support professional development opportunities and technology expenses.
"I'm thrilled RIT was selected to receive this grant from the NCAA," said Nicholson. "Providing more opportunities for individuals who traditionally have been underrepresented at the upper administrative level in athletics is such an important endeavor and I'm excited the NCAA has chosen us to support this effort."
RIT will use the grant to fund the creation of an Assistant Director of Athletics for Scheduling and Event Management position, to be named later this summer.
