ROCHESTER, NY – Dylan Bruno, a junior at RIT, is the recipient of the Elite 90 award for the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship.

Bruno, majoring in microelectric engineering, currently carries a 3.90 GPA. Bruno was presented with the award after the Tigers practice on Friday, May 27 in Hartford, Connecticut.
 
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.

Bruno joins former men's lacrosse players Tyler Sceviour (2021), John Hill (2017) and Pat McMullan (2013), and men's hockey standout Mark Cornacchia, who won the Elite 88 award, as it was known then, in 2010 at the Frozen Four in Detroit.

Bruno has 26 points on 16 goals and 10 assists in 20 games this season. He has six points on four goals and two assists in four NCAA Tournament games, including two goals and an assist in the Tigers 22-6 win over Albion in the second round.


RIT will play Liberty League rival Union on Sunday, May 29 in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship game at 1 p.m. at Rentschler Field. The Tigers look to make it back-to-back national titles after winning its first championship in 2021.
