ITHACA, N.Y. - The RIT baseball team fell to Rochester, 7-5, after a walk-off grand slam by the Yellowjackets in the first game of the double elimination Liberty League Championship Tournament, Thursday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Randy Dodig gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the third inning. The Tiger shortstop walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball.
- Rochester took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning after Matt Cappelleti's single to right center scored Josh Leadem and Luke Piontek.
- The Tigers tied the contest, 2-2, in the seventh inning after junior catcher Kyle Poorman's single up the middle scored freshman designated hitter Adam Marsh.
- RIT took a 3-2 lead in the eighth inning after sophomore second baseman John Bagley scored on a wild pitch.
- The Tigers added two runs in the top of the ninth for a 5-2 lead. Poorman's double to left center scored Dodig to make it 4-2, and then Poorman scored on a throwing error after senior first baseman Ian Libby lined out on the play.
- In the bottom of the ninth, Rochester won the game on a walk-off grand slam homerun by Leadem. Prior to that the Yellowjackets had cut into the Tigers lead at 5-3 when a Harper Sy single scored Joseph Rende.
GAME NOTES
- The Tigers plated 11 hits, led by Poorman's three. Two each came from senior centerfielder Will Porter and Bagley, with solo hits from Libby, senior third baseman Patrick Blackall, graduate student right fielder Nic Stagnitta and Dodig.
- Poorman had two RBI and the team's only extra base hit with a double.
- RIT stranded eight runners to Rochester's 11.
- Sophomore starting pitcher John Arnold allowed eight hits, two runs and one walk with one strikeout during seven innings of work.
- Junior pitcher Peter Bossinas took the loss after allowing four hits, five runs and two walks with one strikeout in relief.

RIT plays at 10 a.m. Friday against the loser of the Thursday Clarkson and Ithaca game.
