Softball falls to St. John Fisher; 2-0, 6-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT softball team fell to visiting St. John Fisher in a non-conference doubleheader, 2-0 and 6-1, Wednesday.

GAME 1 – ST. JOHN FISHER 2, RIT 0
  • RIT freshman pitcher Crystal Madore allowed one earned run and seven hits with one strikeout through seven innings.
  • Freshman shortstop Chloe McManus led the offense with two hits, while freshman left fielder Maddy Cook and senior centerfielder Hannah Trumble each added hits.
  • St. John Fisher scored one run on a play at the plate in the first inning after junior outfielder Allie Klonowski singled.
  • The Cardinals added one more run in the fifth after infielder Abby Flakus singled to left field.
GAME 2 – ST. JOHN FISHER 6, RIT 1
  • Madore allowed one hit in three innings in relief after starter freshman Lexi Pieri took the loss from the circle, allowing 10 hits, six runs, four walks with one strikeout in four innings of work.
  • The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the second inning from a wild pitch.
  • In the third inning, Klonowski hit a grand slam to stake St. John Fisher to a 5-0 lead.
  • Klonowski's one-run single in the fourth inning gave St. John Fisher its final run and a 6-0 lead.
  • McManus tripled in the sixth and then scored off a passed ball to get the Tigers on the board.
  • McManus finished with two hits. Solo hits came from senior right fielder Haley Czerwinski, sophomore designated player Elise Guth, Cook and Trumble.

RIT opens Liberty League play with a doubleheader at Skidmore on Saturday, April 9 with the first game scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. game.
