Baseball loses 12-5 to Brockport

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT (13-8) baseball team lost 12-5 at home to Brockport in non-league action, Wednesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Brockport scored three runs in the top of the third inning
  • Jason Mansell scored on a walk by Ryan Voight with the bases loaded
  • Nicholas Pastore singled into right field driving in Matt O'Dair and James Houlahan
  • RIT came back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning
  • Junior catcher Kyle Poorman reached on an error by Brockport's second baseman, allowing Sophomore Randy Dodig and freshman Adam Marsh to score
  • Brockport's Jake Sisto drove in Tom Kretzler with a Sacrifice fly to right field in the top of the fifth
  • Zach Edlred singled to center field driving in Pastore and Voight to give Brockport a 6-2 lead.
  • The Tigers answered with three runs in the bottom of the seventh
  • Sophomore John Bagley led off the inning with a triple to center field
  • Senior first baseman Ian Libby drove Bagley in with a ground-out to second
  • Senior Patrick Blackall doubled down the right field line and scored on a two-run home run from senior Chris Reilly
  • Kretzler gave Brockport a 7-5 lead on his triple to center in the top of the eighth inning, plating Zach Goldberg
  • Voight singled to center, scoring Kretzler from third.
  • O'Dair doubled down the right field line in the top of the ninth inning scoring Justin Pangburn and Eldred
  • Kretzler homered to left field to make it a 12-5 final
 
GAME NOTES
  • Reilly went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI
  • Marsh went 3-for-5 with a run scored
  • Kretzler led Brockport going 3-for-6 with three runs scored and three RBI
  • Christina Marchbanks took the loss for RIT allowing three earned runs in three innings with three strikeouts and three walks
  • Nick Lawlor got the win for Brockport allowing zero runs in 2/3 of an inning
