ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT softball team fell twice to visiting Clarkson, 4-0 and 3-2, in Liberty League action, Saturday.
GAME 1 – CLARKSON 4, RIT 0
- Clarkson brought its first run across in the fourth inning before plating three in the fifth, including a lead-off homerun by Olivia Zoeller.
- Senior Hannah Trumble and first-year Bailey Kehl logged the Tigers' lone hits of the game as Zoeller also struck out 11 through six innings of work for the Golden Knights.
GAME 2 – CLARKSON 3, RIT 2
- Senior Alexis Smith finished 2-for-4 with and RBI, but it was Clarkson bringing the deciding run across in the top of the seventh to complete the sweep.
- Clarkson scored twice in the top of the first before RIT got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Trumble dropped a hit just inside the right field line to lead off the inning before coming around on a double to left by Smith. First-year Erin Ozminkowski later brought Smith home on a single to center to knot the score.
- Clarkson loaded the bases in the seventh and brought what proved to be the winning run around on a double-play ground-out.
- First-year Lexi Pieri took the loss, allowing seven hits and zero walks while striking out three.
