Game Recap: Softball |

Softball swept by Clarkson, 4-0, 3-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT softball team fell twice to visiting Clarkson, 4-0 and 3-2, in Liberty League action, Saturday.

GAME 1 – CLARKSON 4, RIT 0
  • Clarkson brought its first run across in the fourth inning before plating three in the fifth, including a lead-off homerun by Olivia Zoeller.
  • Senior Hannah Trumble and first-year Bailey Kehl logged the Tigers' lone hits of the game as Zoeller also struck out 11 through six innings of work for the Golden Knights.
GAME 2 – CLARKSON 3, RIT 2
  • Senior Alexis Smith finished 2-for-4 with and RBI, but it was Clarkson bringing the deciding run across in the top of the seventh to complete the sweep.
  • Clarkson scored twice in the top of the first before RIT got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Trumble dropped a hit just inside the right field line to lead off the inning before coming around on a double to left by Smith. First-year Erin Ozminkowski later brought Smith home on a single to center to knot the score.
  • Clarkson loaded the bases in the seventh and brought what proved to be the winning run around on a double-play ground-out.
  • First-year Lexi Pieri took the loss, allowing seven hits and zero walks while striking out three.
