No. 2 Men’s Lacrosse wins 14-4 over Geneseo

ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Dylan Bruno and senior Spencer Bell each scored three goals to help No. 2 RIT (13-1) men's lacrosse to a 14-4 win over Geneseo (6-6), Wednesday.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bell scored all three of his goals in the first quarter to lead the Tigers to a 3-0 lead after the first 15 minutes
  • Bruno scored the first two goals of the second quarter, giving RIT a 5-0 lead on his unassisted goal with 10:46 to play in the half
  • Geneseo's Sean Byrne and Kevin Cook scored back-to-back goals, cutting the Tigers lead to 5-2 on Cook's goal with 7:03 to play in the half
  • Senior Quinn Commandant scored off an assist from sophomore John Mozrall with 2:53 remaining that gave RIT a 6-2 halftime lead
  • Robert Boneillo cut the RIT lead to 6-3 on his goal with 8:56 to play in the third quarter
  • Senior Ryan Barnable scored to make it 7-3 and senior Marley Angus tallied back-to-back goals to increase the RIT lead to 9-3
  • Barnable scored off an assist from Bruno early in the fourth quarter that gave the Tigers a 10-3 lead
  • Junior Luke Pilcher, seniors Conor Bollin and Zeb Hollinger and Bruno each scored in the fourth quarter to make it a 14-4 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT fired 64 shots, including 35 on target
  • RIT finished 23-of-24 on clearing attempts and held Geneseo to 21-of-31 on clears
  • Graduate student Jimmy Spillane won 11-of-18 draws and had seven ground balls
  • Barnable and Angus each scored two goals, while Mozrall handed out three assists
  • Senior Taylor Jensen and sophomore Mike Grace each caused three turnovers
  • Senior Drew Hutchison made seven saves in net to improve to 13-1 on the season
  • Geneseo goalie Mark Pav made 21 saves in net for the Knights
