Women’s Lacrosse loses 22-11 to No. 9 Ithaca

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT (4-8, 2-5 Liberty League) women's lacrosse team lost 22-11 to No. 9 Ithaca (11-2, 7-2 Liberty League) in Liberty League action, Saturday.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior Aldyn Savage gave RIT a 1-0 lead on her goal 50 seconds into game
  • Ithaca ran off six straight goals to lead 6-1 after the first quarter
  • Savage scored off an assist from senior Krystyna Sterio early in the second quarter that cut the Ithaca lead to 6-2
  • Senior Colette Rigas cut the Ithaca lead to 7-3 on her goal off an assist from Savage with 9:14 to play in the first half
  • The Bombers scored four straight goals, taking an 11-3 lead on a Maddie Hall goal with 4:54 to play before halftime
  • Senior McKenna Joint cut the Ithaca lead to 11-4 on her 17th goal of the season with 1:32 to play
  • Madison Boutureira scored for Ithaca with 52 seconds remaining until halftime to give the Bombers a 12-4 lead
  • Senior Steph Darrell and Rigas scored back-to-back goals in the third quarter that cut the Ithaca lead to 13-6
  • Savage and sophomore Kayleigh Ground each tallied late in the third, cutting the Ithaca lead to 15-8 on Ground's goal
  • Savage scored her fourth goal of the game with 1:23 to play in the third that cut the Ithaca lead to 16-9
  • Ithaca ran off five straight goals to begin the fourth quarter, taking a 22-9 lead on a Sydney Phillips goal with 3:35 to play
  • Rigas and Savage each scored late to make it a 22-11 final
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT fired 20 shots, including 15 on target.
  • The Tigers won 10 draw controls and cleared the ball 9-of-17 times.
  • Rigas finished with three goals and three draw controls
  • Freshman Linda Nutter made eight saves in net for RIT
