Baseball falls to Ithaca, 3-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team fell, 3-2, to visiting Ithaca in Liberty League action, Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ithaca took a 1-0 lead in the second inning after Ethan McDonough's single scored Matt Fabian.
  • RIT tied the game in the third when junior catcher Kyle Poorman crossed the plate on a throwing error play after senior first baseman Ian Libby reached first on a fielder's choice.
  • The Tigers took a 2-1 lead in the eighth after freshman second baseman Christopher Colella's single scored freshman designated hitter Adam Marsh.
  • McDonough's two-run walk-off single ended the game in the bottom of the ninth.
GAME NOTES
  • Ithaca had last at-bat as the home team because the game was originally scheduled to be played at Ithaca.
  • RIT out-hit Ithaca, 10-5.
  • Sophomore shortstop Randy Dodig and Libby each had three hits for RIT.
  • The Tigers left 12 runners on base.
  • Junior pitcher Alex Slotter took the loss in relief after allowing two runs and two walks.
  • Sophomore starting pitcher John Arnold allowed four hits, one run and three walks with one strikeout in seven innings.
