ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT softball team dropped both ends of a Liberty League doubleheader to visiting Rochester, Friday. The Tigers fell, 24-12, in a wild opener before losing, 11-0, in the five-inning game-two.

GAME 1 - ROCHESTER 24, RIT 12
  • First-year Erin Ozminkowski went 2-for-4, scoring two runs and knocking in another four, while senior Hannah Trumble finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored as the Tigers logged a season-high in runs scored.
  • RIT jumped out to a 4-0 first-inning lead on an RBI double by junior Alexis Smith. Senior Jill Vorreiter followed with an RBI ground-out, before back-to-back RBI hits by first-year Chloe McManus and Ozminkowski pushed the Tigers to the early lead.
  • The Yellowjackets tied the score with four runs in the top of the third, before RIT retook a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the inning on a two-out, two-run single by first-year Maddy Cook.
  • Rochester responded with seven runs in the fourth for an 11-6 lead, but the Tigers plated five in the bottom of the inning to re-tie the game, 11-11. RIT started by loading the bases on hits by Trumble and Vorreiter around a walk by junior Alexis Smith. Trumble scored from third on a bad throw on a ground ball hit by first-year Chloe McManus, before Ozminkowski cleared the bases with a double to left field. Ozminkowski later scored from third on a bunt by first-year Lillian Rienstra to tie the game.
  • Rochester scored four runs in the top of the fifth to build a 15-11 lead, before RIT got one back in the bottom of the inning on a McManus RBI ground-out.
  • Rochester plated two in the sixth and put the game away with a seven-run seventh, including a grand slam by Hannah Keiper, to put the game out of reach.
GAME 2 - ROCHESTER 11, RIT 0
  • Rochester jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first inning and tacked on runs in the second and the fifth en route to the sweep.
  • First-year Kylie Aquaro beat out a long throw from third to lead off the fourth inning for the Tigers' lone hit of the game as Yellowjacket pitcher Emily Sharlach held RIT to three total base runners to earn the complete-game shutout.
