Baseball falls to Lakeland in last Florida game, 7-0

DAVENPORT, FLA. - The RIT baseball team fell 7-0 against Lakeland at Northeast Regional Park, Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lakeland took a 2-0 first-inning lead after scoring the first run on a sac fly and the second on a walk.
  • The Muskies went up 6-0 after a four-run fourth inning. Lakeland got its third run on a walk and the next three from a three-run double.
  • An RBI-single in the eighth completed the scoring for a 7-0 final.
GAME NOTES
  • The Tigers' 8-2 start is the team's best since going 8-2 in 2007.
  • It was RIT's first Florida loss after winning the previous five games.
  • Lakeland finished with an 11-6 hits advantage.
  • The Tigers stranded 11 runners.
  • Sophomore second baseman Nate Kistler had a team-best two hits beginning with a single in the first and double in the fifth.
  • Three of the Tigers' six hits came in the fifth with singles from senior left fielder Chris Reilly and junior catcher Kyle Poorman along with Kistler's double.
  • Sophomore shortstop Randy Dodig singled in the fourth, while freshman second baseman Christopher Colella doubled in the sixth.
  • Graduate student Collin Reformat took the loss from the mound after allowing six hits, six runs, five walks with five strikeouts in three and two-third innings.
  • Junior pitcher Alex Slotter allowed five hits, one run, two walks with four strikeouts in four and one-third innings in relief.
