Baseball remains undefeated in Florida after 10-7 win over King’s

AUBURNDALE, FLA. – RIT senior first baseman Ian Libby hit two doubles and collected five RBI, helping the Tigers to their fourth-consecutive Florida win in a 10-7 victory over King's (Pa.) at Lake Myrtle Park, Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a pair of scoreless innings, RIT took a 5-0 lead in the third. Libby's three-RBI double scored junior right fielder Zach Mecca, freshman second baseman Christopher Colella, and senior centerfielder Will Porter, after the latter two singled and Mecca was hit by a pitch. Senior left fielder Chris Reilly then belted a two-run homerun, scoring Libby.
  • The Tigers went ahead 7-0 in the fourth after Libby hit his second double of the game and scored Colella for the Tigers' sixth run, followed by a double from sophomore third baseman Nate Kistler, scoring Libby for RIT's seventh run.
  • RIT scattered single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to go ahead 10-0 after Colella, Reilly and Porter all crossed the plate. Colella's run in the fifth came after sophomore second baseman John Bagley reached on an error. Reilly scored after an RBI double from junior catcher Kyle Poorman in the sixth and Porter scored from a Libby sac fly in the seventh. Poorman finished the game with a team-best three hits.
  • King's late rally fell short after scoring seven runs with two in the seventh and five in the eighth.
  • Freshman pitcher Christian Marchbanks recorded the win after allowing just one hit, three walks, and no runs with five strikeouts in five innings of work. Senior Matt Vitro surrendered four hits and two runs with one strikeout in two innings in relief of Marchbanks. Freshman Anthony Aparicio and senior Liam Barry finished the game's final two innings for the Tigers.
