No. 1 Men's Lacrosse wins 16-9 at No. 5 York

Commandant leads Tigers with seven points (3G, 4A)

YORK, Pa. – Senior Quinn Commandant tallied seven points on three goals and four assists to lead No. 1 RIT to a 16-9 win at No. 5 York, Saturday.
 
Junior Luke Pilcher tallied five goals and six points, while freshman Clifford Gaston finished with three goals and five points. Senior Ryan Barnable handed out three assists.
 
Senior goalie Drew Hutchison made 16 saves, improving to 3-0 on the season. Graduate student Jimmy Spillane won 14-of-29 face-offs and had five ground balls, while senior Taylor Jensen led the Tigers with nine ground balls. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT led 6-2 after the first quarter, firing 11 shots.
  • The Tigers scored five straight goals in the quarter.
  • Gaston scored two goals in the opening quarter for RIT, while Commandant tallied a goal and an assist.
  • Commandant and Pilcher each scored early in the second quarter to extend the RIT lead to 8-2.
  • Gaston tallied his third goal of the first half with 6:36 to play in the quarter to give the Tigers a 9-3 lead.
  • York's Ben Mayer scored late in the half to cut the Tigers lead to 9-4.
  • Hutchison made nine first-half saves for RIT.
  • Pilcher scored two quick goals early in the third quarter to extend the Tigers lead to 11-4
  • Sophomore John Mozrall scored with 11:29 to play off an assist from Barnable to give the Tigers a 12-5 lead.
  • Commandant gave RIT a 13-6 lead on his man-up goal on a quick-stick off an assist from Pilcher with 6:21 to play in the quarter.
  • Ranck scored with 5:29 to play in the third that cut the RIT lead to 13-7.
  • Will Harnick's man-up goal early in the fourth quarter cut the RIT lead to 13-8.
  • Senior Ryan Rosenblum scored on shot from distance to give the Tigers a 14-8 lead.
  • Pilcher tallied a man-up goal with 8:19 to play to give RIT a 15-9 lead, and scored with four minutes to play to make it a 16-9 final.
