No. 1 Men’s Lacrosse wins 21-6 against Cortland

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior attack Quinn Commandant scored four goals including his 100th career goal to lead No. 1 RIT (9-0) to a 21-6 win over Cortland (3-6), Wednesday.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Commandant scored three of RIT's 10 first-quarter goals.
  • Senior Marley Angus and Spencer Bell each scored twice in the opening quarter, while senior Ryan Rosenblum had two assists.
  • Senior Ryan Barnable, sophomore John Mozrall and freshman Clifford Gaston also scored in the first.
  • Senior Zeb Hollinger and Gaston each tallied second-quarter goals.
  • Cortland's Colton Smith scored two goals late in the half to cut the RIT lead to 12-3.
  • Commandant scored his 100th career goal with 12 minutes to play in the third quarter off an assist from Mozrall.
  • Junior Luke Pilcher scored three third-quarter goals as RIT blanked the Red Dragons 6-0 in the quarter.
  • Senior Conor Bollin, and sophomores Miles Tillman and Connor Finneran each scored in the fourth quarter.
 
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT fired 62 shots, including 31 on target
  • RIT converted 1-of-3 of its man-up chances, won 22-of-30 face-offs and cleared the ball 15-of-17 times.
  • Senior Drew Hutchison made seven saves in net to improve to 9-0 on the season.
  • Graduate student Jimmy Spillane won 9-of-12 draws and had five ground balls.
  • Pat Doyen and Colton Smith each scored two goals for Cortland.
