RIT Athletics Preview: March 21-27

MEN'S LACROSSE (6-0)
Senior midfielder Ryan Barnable scored three goals and added three assists to lead No. 1 RIT to an 18-7 win at Ohio Wesleyan, Saturday. The Tigers led 5-1 after the first quarter and blanked Ohio Wesleyan 7-0 in the second quarter to lead 12-1 at halftime.
 
Senior Ryan Rosenblum scored three goals and senior Quinn Commandant finished with two goals and an assist, while senior Marley Angus added two assists. Senior Drew Hutchison made six saves in net to improve to 6-0 on the season.
 
RIT, ranked No. 1 in this week's USILA Division III Coach's Poll, plays at No. 5 St. John Fisher on Wednesday (March 23) and hosts Vassar on Saturday (March 26).

WOMEN'S LACROSSE (2-4, 1-1 Liberty League)
Senior Aldyn Savage tallied four goals and six points to lead RIT to a 15-9 win at Rochester, Wednesday. Senior Colette Rigas scored four goals, while sophomore Julia Tenney scored a career-high three goals. Freshman Linda Nutter made nine saves in net to record her first collegiate win.
 
Rigas scored a career-high six goals in the Tigers 20-15 loss to Clarkson, Saturday. Savage tallied three goals and five points, while freshman Ella Doan finished with a goal and an assist. Junior Victoria Rea made nine saves in net.
 
RIT returns to action on Friday (March 25) at Vassar and Saturday (March 26) at Bard.

BASEBALL (10-3)
RIT swept two games at Oneonta, winning 6-1 and 8-5, Saturday. In game one, RIT scored its first two runs – including the game winner – on passed balls in the second inning. The Tigers added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings, to go with a two-run fifth inning. Senior centerfielder Will Porter and junior catcher Kyle Poorman accounted for four of the team's six hits with two hits each. Graduate student pitcher Collin Reformat recorded his second win of the season after allowing six hits and one run with seven strikeouts in six innings of work. Alex Slotter allowed two hits with five strikeouts in the final three innings in relief.
 
In game two, freshman pitcher Christian Marchbanks allowed two hits, three runs, six walks with two strikeouts in one and one-third innings. Junior pitcher Peter Bossinas went three and two-third innings in relief, allowing two hits, no runs, three walks with five strikeouts in picking up his second win of the season.
 
Sophomore John Bagley went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Freshman Christopher Colella went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI, while senior Ian Libby went 1-for-4 with two runs scored.
 
Baseball hosts Alfred State on Wednesday (March 24) opens Liberty League play with three games at Bard this Saturday and Sunday. .

RIT returns to action on Wednesday (March 23) with a double header at Oswego. The Tigers recorded a 4-6 record on their annual trip to Florida during Spring Break.

MEN'S TENNIS (5-2, 1-3 Liberty League)
RIT defeated Houghton 9-0, Tuesday. Senior Carter Casimir teamed with freshman Joel Pho for an 8-0 win at second doubles and then took fifth singles, 6-0 and 6-1. Senior Jake Wolicki and graduate student Jacob Meyerson also won 8-0, at first doubles. The third doubles tandem of Christian Berko and Grahith Movva won 8-2. In singles action, RIT took each match in straight sets.
 
RIT returns to action on Sunday (March 27) at Skidmore.

WOMEN'S TENNIS (1-3, 0-3 Liberty League)
RIT hosts Geneseo on Wednesday (March 23) and Vassar on Saturday (March 26). Wednesday's match will be played at the Gordon Field House, while Saturday's match will be played at Midtown Athletic Club.
