ROCHESTER, NY – Senior
Aldyn Savage tallied four goals and six points to lead RIT (2-3, 1-0 Liberty League) to a 15-9 win at Rochester (1-2, 0-1 Liberty League) in the Tigers Liberty League opener, Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Savage scored two of her four goals in the first quarter as RIT and Rochester finished the quarter tied 2-2.
- West and senior Colette Rigas each scored twice in the second quarter to lead RIT to an 8-4 halftime lead.
- Savage gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead on her goal early in the quarter.
- Rigas gave RIT a 4-2 lead on her goal with 13:21 to play in the half.
- Sophomore Julia Tenney extended the lead to 5-2 on her goal with 10:32 remaining.
- West capped off the four-goal run with her goal with 9:18 to play to extend the RIT lead to 6-2.
- In the second half, Savage scored a woman-down goal midway through third quarter to give RIT a 9-4 lead.
- Tenney scored off an assist from Savage with 27 seconds to play in the quarter to extend the Tigers lead to 11-5.
- Tenney, West, sophomore Carrissa Hlywa and Rigas all scored in the fourth quarter.
GAME NOTES
- RIT fired 34 shots, including 24 on target.
- The Tigers won 21-of-28 draw controls and cleared the ball 18-of-21 times.
- Tenney tallied a career-high three goals.
- Rigas scored four goals and West finished with three goals.
- Freshman Linda Nutter made eight saves in net to earn her first collegiate win.
- Emma Little scored two goals and an assist to lead Rochester.
