2022 Athletics Spectator/Visitor Policy

UPDATE: Feb. 8, 2022 - Due to the number of competitors registered to compete, no fans will be admitted to the home track meet on Friday, Feb. 11.

RIT Athletics is pleased to welcome spectators to all athletic events.  All spectators are required to adhere to the RIT Safety Plan, as well as, comply with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

All attendees 5 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER (including RIT faculty, staff, students, their families and campus visitors) are required to provide proof of vaccination, as outlined below, to gain entrance to any indoor RIT Athletic competition.

To verify COVID-19 vaccination, ALL GUESTS 5 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER will be required to display one of the following items upon entry to the arena:

  • Vaccination Record Card (e.g., original hard copy, photocopy, digital copy, including scanned image, PDF, or digital photograph.
  • NYS Excelsior Pass
  • Government digital vaccine proof from outside New York State
  • RIT COVID Clearance Pass (Students/Faculty and Staff Only)
Additionally, ALL GUESTS 12 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER MUST ALSO:
  • Present a valid photo ID matching your proof of vaccination or RIT COVID Clearance Pass (Students/Faculty and Staff Only)
NOTE: COVID-19 negative test results will not be accepted for entry.

Spectators are not be permitted onto the field, court or playing surface at any time before, during or after contests.

FACE COVERINGS
All competitions taking place indoors will require all spectators to wear a face covering at all times, regardless of vaccination status. Face coverings are required outdoors for unvaccinated persons when physical distancing cannot be maintained and are recommended for vaccinated persons in crowded settings.

FOOD/BEVERAGES
Food and beverages will continue to be available at hockey games in the Gene Polisseni Center. However, they must be consumed while seated and face masks must be put back on immediately when finished, as is consistent with all RIT dining venues. 

RIT COMPLIANCE PASS
Current RIT students, faculty, and staff who comply with the vaccination policy and do not have access to a vaccination card can request a compliance pass to present along with their RIT ID for entry into all campus events.

Athletic Recruiting Visits and Sports Clinics
Intercollegiate athletics welcomes prospective student-athletes to campus for both official and unofficial recruiting visits. These visits must be limited in duration (no longer than a day), conducted in small groups and can include activities such as athletic facilities tours (inside and outside locations), campus tours (conducted by Admissions), attending and watching a practice, and meeting with coaching staff.  Overnight visits are not permitted on campus; however, teams are permitted to utilize local hotels to accommodate visits when deemed necessary. All activities must adhere to current campus safety policies. All prospective student-athletes and others accompanying them are required to wear a mask when indoors, regardless of vaccination status.  Unvaccinated student-athletes and others accompanying them are required to wear a mask outdoors when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
 
Athletic programs may also welcome student-athlete recruits to campus for one-day, limited duration clinics.  All clinics must fully comply with COVID-19 campus safety protocols, and participation is based on facility capacity limits.  All clinic participants are required to wear a mask when indoors, regardless of vaccination status.  Unvaccinated clinic participants are required to wear a mask outdoors when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
