ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT Women's Hockey team, in conjunction with the
Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Sigma Chi fraternity, will host a "Teddy Bear toss" during its
game versus Mercyhurst this Friday (Jan. 16) at 6:05 p.m.
Fans are invited to bring a new (with tags) stuffed animal and throw it on the ice following the first goal scored by either team, or during the third-period media timeout if the game remains scoreless.
All bears will be donated to children served by Rochester General Hospital, which provides pediatric care for children from birth through 21 years of age. The hospital offers comprehensive inpatient pediatric services for acute illnesses as well as elective and emergency surgical care. The inpatient pediatric unit admits approximately 2,000 children each year and features dedicated pediatric staff, private rooms and child-focused play areas to support children requiring medical treatment or post-surgical recovery. In addition, a Pediatric & Young Adult Emergency Department sees approximately 22,000 visits annually and provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and psychiatric emergency services.
